At First United Methodist Church Duncanville, we feel that Sunday School is another way to bring yourself closer to God and to the other members of the church.
We have many Sunday School opportunities that cater to all age groups. You can join one group, or as many as time will permit.
Classes are led by wonderful teachers who are Biblically centered, seeking to inspire, uplift, inform, and challenge. Please come join us.
Classes:
Cup and Saucer
Senior Adults
This class was organized over 60 years ago! It now consists of about 70 mostly retired but quite active seniors. The Cokesbury curriculum is taught by class members. The warmth and concern for one another found in this class provides the atmosphere of a close family group. We enjoy many social activities together. As a class, we fund several mission projects and many of our members volunteer in our church and community, including our local hospitals.
The Genesis class received its name because the original members decided to study the Bible by reading the books of the Bible in order. We have completed the Old Testament and have begun the New Testament. We focus on the messages in each passage and how to apply that message to our daily lives.
The Homebuilders class is a group of extremely warm and friendly people who like to get together to study, learn, play, and worship. Our lessons cover material ranging from Bible study to contemporary social topics. As an important contributor to the elbow grease that is expended throughout the church, the class is an invaluable asset to every aspect of First United Methodist Church Duncanville.
Our class offers fellowship to class members through a continuing study of the Bible. Activities include monthly socials with several service projects carried out each year, including the support of a missionary family. Come and visit and enjoy.
The Progressors Sunday School class is made up of young-at-heart seniors who are very service minded. Our class is set up for discussion with a volunteer leader that changes weekly. Our motto is “we come as friends, fight as family, and leave as friends.” We might have differing beliefs on many social issues but we all follow our strong Christian beliefs.
Many in the class are long-term members of the church but anyone is welcome and encouraged to join. The class originally was a “couples” class but we have many single members as well as some who have lost their spouse over the lifetime of the class. We invite anyone who would like to join to give our class a try. We will put you to work in one of our many class projects, allowing you to follow your passion for service.
Multi-generational group of active and fun loving believers! We use a variety of curriculum to apply
Biblical principles to everyday life situations and create a safe place to discuss and explore our Christian beliefs. We love having visitors and growing our Sunday School family.
