Missions

Mission Statement
Following God’s guidance and taking direction from scripture, we will be involved in efforts which:
- Spread news of Christ’s unconditional and redeeming love in word and in service to those in need at home and around the world,
- Work to alleviate deprivation and suffering through ministries with the poor, the sick, the oppressed, victims of disaster and with the weak and vulnerable,
- Support United Methodist missionaries and agencies as well as persons in our local church family who are engaged in mission work. We encourage all to be involved in serving others.

Open Table
Free Saturday evening meal for community, church, friends
Open Table provides a hot meal and a sack of groceries each week to those in our community. A different Sunday school class or group of volunteers take turns each week preparing and serving the meal with about 75-80+ guests representing about 25+ family groups. Thanks for the servant heart of each of our volunteers and the church community for its generosity which makes this ministry a success! -
Property Improvement Program (PIP)
PIP Days provides crucial home repairs and improvements for those in need in the Duncanville area. PIP Days is a ministry borne out of FUMCD that has grown to involve many local churches and works in cooperation with our city. Twice each year for two weekends, people gather in the church parking lot for prayer before heading out to work on homes in our neighborhoods. Local restaurants provide meals for volunteers. Homeowners must make an application and meet requirements to be chosen. -
After School Ministry
This ministry provides a safe and caring environment for K-4th grade students after school. Each week we provide each child a hot meal, fun educational crafts and games, special learning adventures, and homework help. At Christmas, we sponsor an Angel Tree to provide support for students, teachers, and staff. The other ways we support the school include a teacher/staff sitdown lunch the week before school starts, treats for Teacher Appreciation Week, and backpacks and school supplies in the fall. The continued success of our After School Ministry program is made possible through your generous donations and the compassionate volunteers from FUMCD.- Happy Feet
Happy Feet is a ministry that provides a brand new pair of shoes and socks to underprivileged children in DISD. Every Thanksgiving time we use our donations to take children shopping for a brand new pair or shoes. It really leaves an impression on them!

Quilters make quilts and afghans for children who have been removed from their homes and are in the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) program. They have delivered over 5800 quilts to date! We bless every batch of quilts before they are delivered to CASA.
Handyman Ministry members use many skills to make household repairs and minor maintenance (like changing light bulbs) for church members and others in the community who need a little help.
Beautiful handcrafted cards for special occasions and for pastor’s use. They are periodically available for sale after service.
