Abril Goforth is a graduate of Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University. She is trained in conflict resolution and is currently working on a Doctorate of Ministry degree in Church Leadership at Wesley Seminary in Washington, DC.
Abril has many interests. Missions in the community is one of them. Her vision for the church is one that is wildly diverse, where people of every age, nation, race, and identity gather in the name of Christ.
Steve Sobczak is an ordained Deacon with thirty years’ experience in ministry. In addition to graduate degrees in music and theology, he has four units of Clinical Pastoral Education. Steve has most recently served as chaplain at Texas Health Resources Alliance and Texas Health Huguley. In addition to his duties at First Duncanville, he is a PRN chaplain at Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth.
Steve and his wife Michele have been married thirty-seven years and have an ever growing family. Recently, Steve and Michele welcomed their first grandchild, Owen Timothy Marco, born on February 20th. As you can imagine, Steve and Michele spend as much time as possible with their family; they can’t seem to get enough of their precious little grandson.
Bridget is an Aggie who earned a MA in Counselor Education at Sam Houston State University and an MDiv at Brite Divinity School. Her calling and joy throughout her ministry has been working with children, youth and their families. She joined the staff of FUMCD in 2016. She is passionate about including those 18 and younger in the life of the church and helping them listen for and follow God’s calling in their lives.
In her free time, Bridget is active in Junior League, enjoys traveling with friends and family and spending time with her dog, Kringle.
Boeun started taking piano and voice lessons at the age of five, and she is crazy talented. She has a bachelor’s degree in vocal performance and collaborative piano as well as a master’s degree in vocal and piano performance. We are so blessed to have Boeun’s phenomenal talent each Sunday.
Erika is a 40+ year resident of Duncanville and a proud Duncanville High School graduate, where she met her high school sweetheart/husband. She received her BS in Computer Science Engineering from Southern Methodist University and teaching certification from East Texas State University. She worked as a programmer in the telecommunications industry before beginning her teaching career.
Erika taught math at Reed Middle School in Duncanville before her two children were born. She came to First Methodist School in 2002 when her children enrolled in school as toddlers. Her daughter and son both graduated from FMS's kindergarten program. In her spare time, Erika likes to garden and participate in Bible Study Fellowship International.
Sharon thought she had retired until she received a calling. She is a graduate of Mansfield High School, UT Arlington, and Southeastern Paralegal Institute. Sharon brings many years of experience in budgeting and accounting from the Federal Reserve, UT Arlington, and UT Southwestern. She loves this church and is always looking for ways to serve.
