Join Us in One of Our Many Sunday School Classes
At First United Methodist Church Duncanville, we feel that Sunday School is another way to bring yourself closer to God and to the other members of the church.
We have many Sunday School opportunities that cater to all age groups. You can join one group, or as many as time will permit.
Classes are led by wonderful teachers who are Biblically centered, seeking to inspire, uplift, inform, and challenge. Please come join us.
Parents of young children
Sundays at 10:00 a.m. (Room 414)
Join parents of young children as we study together and share raising children in a Christ like way.
Cup and Saucer
Sundays at 10:00 a.m. in Room AYC-17
This class was organized over 60 years ago. It now consists of about 70 mostly retired but quite active seniors. The Cokesbury curriculum is taught by class members. The warmth and concern for one another found in this class provides the atmosphere of a close family group. We enjoy many social activities together. As a class, we fund several mission projects and many of our members volunteer in our church and community, including our local hospitals.
Ages 30-50 (but open to all ages)
Sundays at 10:00 a.m. in the Church Parlor-Friendship Hall
The Genesis class received its name because the original members decided to study the Bible by reading the books of the Bible in order. We have completed the Old Testament and have begun the New Testament. We focus on the messages in each passage and how to apply that message to our daily lives.
Sundays at 10:00 a.m. in Room AYC-4
The Homebuilders class is a group of extremely warm and friendly people who like to get together to study, learn, play, and worship. Our lessons cover material ranging from Bible study to contemporary social topics. As an important contributor to the elbow grease that is expended throughout the church, the class is an invaluable asset to every aspect of First United Methodist Church Duncanville.
Sundays at 10:00 a.m. in Room AYC-18
Our class offers fellowship to class members through a continuing study of the Bible. Activities include monthly socials with several service projects carried out each year, including the support of a missionary family. Come and visit and enjoy.
Sundays at 10:00 a.m. in Room AYC-13
This class is composed of both couples and singles. The lessons are always lively and in a discussion format. Members are actively involved in all aspects of church leadership. One of our ongoing missions is the Myrna Hoke Garden Fund, which provides perpetual care for the Memorial Garden on our church campus. We welcome and embrace visitors and new church members as family.
Sundays at 10:00 a.m. in Room AYC-2
Do you remember the Beatles, the Apollo moon landing, “Jesus Christ Superstar” and disco? If you do, you must be a Baby Boomer! Come join other fun-loving Boomers in the Seekers class. We use a variety of curriculum to help apply biblical principles to everyday life situations. We love having visitors and making new members into family.
Sundays at 10:00 a.m. at the Snack Bar in the Alexander Youth Center
This class is made up of both singles and couples. We concentrate our studies on a wide variety of spiritually-based curriculum, challenging ourselves to Christian discipleship in all areas of our lives. Teachers from within the class present the weekly lessons.
