Children in Action

CHILDREN LAST WEEK

Last Friday night 18 children got together for pizza, games, crafts and a service project during Children in Action. The children created beautiful framed art for Pastors Frank and Steve to take to members when they visit them in the hospital or at home.

Children and Youth This Week

This week children and youth are encouraged to participate in the Fall Festival on Saturday. The youth will be hosting a booth in Aldersgate from 8-2 selling t-shirts and small gifts to raise money for their Christmas Angels. Children’s activities will be open from 10-noon. Everyone is invited to join us for lunch on Sunday! We hope to see you there!

Youth Last Week

The youth had a lock-in last Saturday which included a surprise trick-or-treating excursion. Thank you to the Davila, Perez, Gregory, Newland, Rodenburg and O’Brien families for greeting us with treats and friendly conversation when we came by in our impromptu costumes! Thank you to Elizabeth Meador who hosted a backyard party with the help of Keith Shankle and Roger Whitehead and Frank Alegria who had a piñata for us at the end of our journey. It was great fun to interact with so many church members!

Your Mission $$$ at Work – 2019

FUMCD Missions Committee identified and set an annual dedicated budget of $30,440 for 2019. Because of your generosity and hard work during the 2018 Fall Festival, we were able to contribute to Duncanville Outreach (DOM), Dallas Bethlehem Center, Project Transformation, Central Elementary, PIP Days, Wesley Rankin, Open Table, Lelt Foundation, Brazos Valley Mobility, Panama Missions (Ceballos), and Wycliff Missions (Yost). All these funds have been distributed
except for on-going work with DOM, PIP, Open Table and Central Elementary. We anticipate disbursing all budgeted funds by year-end.
In addition , sent one-time donations to aid missionaries in South Africa and Japan, as well as disaster relief efforts for Mozambique and the Bahamas (both through UMCOR).

Monthly communion rail offerings total $13,049 to date and benefit: Meals on Wheels, Golden Cross, Covenant Gardens, FUMCD Children’s Ministry, FUMCD Youth Ministry, Lydia Patterson Institute, PIP, Central Elementary, Happy Feet & World Communion. Still to come are DOM (November) and Pastor’s Benevolence Fund (December).

Thank you, Church!
