Bible Verse of the Week
“Ask and it shall be given you; seek and ye shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you.” – Matthew 7:7
ASH WEDNESDAY, March 6th
LENTEN SPIRITUAL RENEWAL GROUP
This year during Lent, Bridget is hosting a spiritual renewal group. We will not be reading an assigned book. Group members will come together and take turns answering the same few questions each week (such as, “Share your week briefly from a spiritual respect.”) At the end of each meeting, we will pray for one another. The process will serve help us grow together as a community and encourage us as individuals to think about our daily lives from a spiritual perspective.
The group will meet on Mondays at 6 p.m. beginning on March 11. Due to the nature of the group, we will need to cap participation at around 12 people. Please contact email@example.com as soon as possible if you would like to be a part of the Monday evening group.
LENTEN SPIRITUAL GROWTH AND DISCUSSION GROUP
There will be a spiritual growth and discussion group for six weeks during Lent. It is based on the book, A Cup of Life by Joyce Rupp. It requires you to do about 20 minutes per day (Devotional, prayer, etc.) based on the guidance in the book. The group meets once a week for an hour for sharing and discussion. The day and time are open and will be decided based on the schedule of those who sign up. Barbara Allen will lead the group and says, “I did this group last fall and was so impressed with it that I wanted to share it with our church.”
Barb will be available in the Narthex this Sunday, March 10 to answer questions about the group.
Lent is a season of preparing for Easter. It begins with Ash Wednesday and follows for 40 days (not counting Sundays) to Easter Morning. This year for lent, we will be following a theme of “Journey.” Journey has many different meanings and understandings. Journey also comes with many stories and memories. As we prepare for Lent, we invite you to join with us, by participating in this small questionnaire regarding Lent, Easter, and our Lenten theme, “Journey”.
1-Add to the word cloud: (see word image above).
When you see or hear the word, “Journey,” “Lent”, and/or “Easter” is there any word that comes to mind?
2-What does “Journey” mean to you? Or, is there a memorable story of a journey you have taken that you would like to share?
As you respond, Consider:
· What has been a difficult journey for you?
· What is a joyous Journey you have taken?
· Where have you seen God in your journeys?
· What is a journey you hope to take?
Answers can be emailed to Nathan Presley at Intern@fumcd.com. In the subject line, put “Journey”.

Rock-A-Fun(d) for the Legacy Fund
Because WE believe in the PURPOSE of United Methodist Women and want our daughters, granddaughters, nieces and friends to share our sense of meaningful “sisterhood”, out local UMW unit will sponsor a “ROCK—A—FUN(D) on March 10th in the church narthex. The monetary donations will go to the LEGACY FUND which is OUR special 150TH anniversary gift to the future of United Methodist members and ministries.
What’s the Legacy fund you ask? It is the key element of the 150th anniversary celebration for of National UNITED METHODIST WOMEN, designated as an endowment fund (only interest can be expended) to ensure the continuation of ministries with women, children and youth, worldwide, into the next 150 years. This fund will enable UMW nationally to respond more adequately to new and emerging needs.
Each one of our United Methodist Woman participates will be asking one of you to “sponsor” them to rock for up to 4 hours in rocking chair on Sunday March 10 from 8 AM to 12 noon. We ask that you consider a figure that goes with our 150 th celebration like $1.50 or $15.00 or even $150 and hour to ROCK. Come join us and cheers us on as we have a “ROCK—A—FUN(D) to joyously celebrate our 150th Anniversary of UNITED METHODIST WOMEN!

FMS Celebrates Dr. Seuss’ Birthday
We love reading and Dr. Seuss! Our students and staff wore silly hair, fun hats, and silly socks to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday last week.
There are a limited number of spots available for the 2018-2019 school year for students ages 1 year – kindergarten. If you know a family with young children, please tell them about our school so they can learn and grow with us!
