What is Passover?
God spoke to Moses to go to the Pharaoh and say: “The Lord the God of the Hebrews, sent me to you saying, ‘Let my people go, that they may serve me’…”
When Pharaoh refused, God sent through Moses 9 plagues upon Egypt. The Lord said to Moses:
Yet one plague more, shall I bring upon Pharaoh and Egypt… about midnight I will go forth… and all of the first born in the land shall die.

LENTEN SPIRITUAL RENEWAL GROUP
This year during Lent, Bridget is hosting a spiritual renewal group. We will not be reading an assigned book. Group members will come together and take turns answering the same few questions each week (such as, “Share your week briefly from a spiritual respect.”) At the end of each meeting, we will pray for one another. The process will serve help us grow together as a community and encourage us as individuals to think about our daily lives from a spiritual perspective.
The group will meet on Mondays at 6 p.m. beginning on March 11. Due to the nature of the group, we will need to cap participation at around 12 people. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible if you would like to be a part of the Monday evening group.
LENTEN SPIRITUAL GROWTH AND DISCUSSION GROUP
There will be a spiritual growth and discussion group for six weeks during Lent. It is based on the book, A Cup of Life by Joyce Rupp. It requires you to do about 20 minutes per day (Devotional, prayer, etc.) based on the guidance in the book. The group meets once a week for an hour for sharing and discussion. The day and time are open and will be decided based on the schedule of those who sign up. Barbara Allen will lead the group and says, “I did this group last fall and was so impressed with it that I wanted to share it with our church.”
Barb will be available in the Narthex this Sunday, March 10 to answer questions about the group.
Lent is a season of preparing for Easter. It begins with Ash Wednesday and follows for 40 days (not counting Sundays) to Easter Morning. This year for lent, we will be following a theme of “Journey.” Journey has many different meanings and understandings. Journey also comes with many stories and memories. As we prepare for Lent, we invite you to join with us, by participating in this small questionnaire regarding Lent, Easter, and our Lenten theme, “Journey”.
1-Add to the word cloud: (see word image above).
When you see or hear the word, “Journey,” “Lent”, and/or “Easter” is there any word that comes to mind?
2-What does “Journey” mean to you? Or, is there a memorable story of a journey you have taken that you would like to share?
As you respond, Consider:
· What has been a difficult journey for you?
· What is a joyous Journey you have taken?
· Where have you seen God in your journeys?
· What is a journey you hope to take?
Answers can be emailed to Nathan Presley at Intern@fumcd.com. In the subject line, put “Journey”.
Easter Donations Needed
Please bring donations of plastic Easter eggs and individually wrapped candy (small enough to fit in the eggs) to the church any Sunday in March. Thank you!
