Sunday morning, FUMC-D had a bit of excitement when a parishioner’s vehicle jumped the curb and hit the East wall of the Alexander building outside the Homebuilders’Sunday School class.
Fortunately, no one was seriously injured and the wall was temporarily patched. A special thanks to Buddy Sheppard, Mike O‘Brien , Israel Dominguez , Danny Warren and Byron Rodenburg, who patched the wall Sunday afternoon.
On Monday, we had the initial inspection of the damage from the church’s insurance group. We are awaiting the vehicle’s insurance adjuster to return our calls.
As of Monday, it was decided to postpone all activities in the
Alexander Building until further notice. This comes upon a strong recommendation from a structural engineer that madethe initial inspection of our building.
To all groups that use the Alexander Building for your particular activities, there is a list that has assigned all classes to available space on church the church campus. Call Laticia at 972-291-6121, Monday– Thursday, 8:30 am– 4:30 pm for any information regarding the use of the Alexander Building.
The damage will be fixed. Sunday School classes will resume. Fellowship will once again happen. We are fortunate and blessed that no one was seriously injured; however, we will have stories to share for quite a while.
Moments like these do not define us, but the way we respond to the care of those injured, the displacement of a class and how if finds another location to teach God’s word and the way we appreciate our lives and how fragile we really are.
Be strong and of good courage and do not be afraid…

Last week, our Summer Fun students ‘visited’ the Everglades National Park! Students learned about how the earth filters the water to keep it clean. In chapel class, they learned that Jesus calls us to be fishers of men (Luke 5:10)..
Open Enrollment for Summer Fun (ages 1 – exiting 5th grade) and the 2019-2020 school year (ages 1 year – kindergarten) is going on now! If you know a family with young children, please tell them about our school so they can learn and grow with us!
