Trustees Update from Dean Singleton—Chairperson
Many have noticed the work being done on our buildings this past week. The sanctuary is on schedule for this week, with hopes of completion by Thursday. This is good news. All this is happening because of the windstorm damage our building received this past May. How is all this being funded? The insurance claim for damages received came to the tune of about $140,000. There is a deductible of $10,000 that the church will have to incur. This is standard operating practice for us in previous insurance claims. Another important point is that Aldersgate Fellowship was also damaged extensively. We will look at this as an oppor-tunity to do need repairs and renovations. This is a must for the future use of Aldersgate and the countless events that occur within these walls.
However, the Trustees are compiling a list of needed projects on our campus and parsonages that will have to be addressed this summer, at the latest. Trustees and Finance will be working together to develop a plan of action to finance these projects.
What I will ask is that the church be in prayer for the Trustees and Finance Committee, as we discern God’s will through this process. It was about 20 years ago that the congregation at that time began to discern next steps on a new sanctuary. Although we are NOT there with a new building, needed repairs will be a must for our church property. A comprehensive plan for our campus buildings, and our ministry to and with the community, will determine what course of action is taken for future building needs.
I thank you for supporting previous Trustees Committees that have labored tirelessly over the many years to keep our building in excellent condition. They set a high standard that is expected and needed during these times. Together, we have work to do, gifts to give and prayers to happen. Thank you.
