Second Wind by Margaret Anne Huffman (242 Huf)
The author approaches God in all situations whether mopping the floor or sitting in a corporate seminar. Humorous and anecdotal meditations help lift the reader’s spirits. A zest for living can be found in meditations ranging from “Stain, Spills, Splatter” to “Get Mad – and Even”.
As announced in church on Sunday, STARTING SOME TIME IN MARCH WHEN THE RENOVATION OF ALDERSGATE IS COMPLETED, the modern service will be held in Aldersgate at 9:00 am, Sunday School at 10:00 am, and the Traditional service at 11:00 am in the Sanctuary.
ACCESS is a new Sunday evening worship experience that will start on April 3, 2016 in Aldersgate. ACCESS will be like nothing we’ve ever done before here at FUMCD. ACCESS will begin at 5:30pm each Sunday night starting in April. It will be a very casual and authentic worship experience where you can find guest preachers, testimonies, diverse worship music and delicious homemade sweet treats!
We hope you will join us on April 3rd for this exciting new venture!

Children’s Sabbath – February 14
Heifer International is again the mission project for this very special day, so be saving your change to drop in the buckets the children will pass during the special offering. The goal is to purchase an ark of animals again this year, that means we need $5,000. Oh, yes! We like green money and checks too. This is the 11th year for the UMW to sponsor this special day. If we raise $5,000, it will be the seventh time for FUMCD to have enough to purchase an ark.
Once again our children will be leading the service as well as singing. Be sure to come and support our children.
ALL our Children’s Activities will be in full swing on Sunday Night, February 14
Activities start at 5:00!
Choirs, Hand bells, Kids4Christ, Snack Supper
No youth activities on Sunday, February 14.
New Youth Director Announcement
We are very excited to introduce Elizabeth (Liz) Ogle as our new, not interim any longer, Full-Time Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries!
Liz and her parents, Cathy & Kirby Ogle, have been a part of our church family since 1998. Liz grew up here, went through our confirmation program, and was a leader in our youth group where she developed her deep passion for mission work on our youth mission trips.
Liz is a recent graduate of Texas A&M University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications with a minor in Sports Marketing. She recently got engaged to Zach Krahulik, who is a member of the Garland Fire Department.
Liz is passionate about our youth group, mission work and her faith. She has already been a great mentor for our youth over the months that she has been our interim, and she is very excited about all that God has in store for our youth program in the future!
We are so excited to formally welcome Liz onto our staff team on a permanent basis! Please help us to welcome Liz.

FMS teachers are eager learners too!
Four of our staff members attended training through the Methodist Nursery Kindergarten Association on Saturday, January 23. Mrs. Sola, Mrs. Jackie, Ms. Shea, and Mrs. Olivia (pictured left side of table) learned about the effects of technology on child development. We are blessed to have staff who are committed to sharpening their teaching skills!
We have a few spots available for the 2015-2016 school year (ages 1-kindergarten) and will begin open enrollment for Summer Fun and the 2016-2017 school year soon!
