Bible Verse of the Week
” Let your hope keep you joyful, be patient in your troubles, and pray at all times.”
The First Sunday of Advent: HOPE
December 2, was the first Sunday of Advent, the Sunday in which recall the hope we have in Christ. The prophets of Israel all spoke of the coming of Christ, of how a savior would be born, a king in the line of David. They spoke of how he would rule the world wisely and bless all nations.
O come, O come, Emmanuel
FUMCD Children’s Bible Presentation
During Children’s Moment on Sunday the FUMCD Children received their Bibles from the Church for their faithful attendance of Sunday School. Pastor Frank Alegria and our Children’s/Youth Director Bridget Maloney blessed Leyvi Cox, Trinity Andria Davila, Madison Evans, Elijah Martinez, Karina Martinez, Liliana, Martinez, Levin Karl Matern, Nathaniel Presley, Ethan Thor Wilkerson and Kaelin Tori Wilkerson with their gift of new bibles.
Children and their families shared a snack, heard the story of the birth of Jesus and made a set of 10 Nativity Discs. These wooden discs can be used to retell the Christmas story and can even be adapted to hang on a Christmas Tree.
Our FUMCD YOUTH
On Sunday, December 2 the youth made gingerbread houses to kick off the Advent season. Youth (7th- 12th grade) should plan to join us on Sunday, December 9 when we will go shopping for 2 Angels from our Angel Tree! Be at 414 no later than 5:45 so we can load the van and hit the road. A signed permission slip will be required to participate, parents may sign the form at drop off.
A heartfelt letter from a grateful Duncanville homeowner, a recipient of our Fall PIP Days.
1st United Methodist Church of Duncanville.
To the PIP group and UNC, I am so thankful that God put people on earth and in my life like you. People who open their hearts to people like me. People who could never have done or afforded to have done the work that you did.
Thank you so much! The fact that the most of you were also senior, you worked untiringly, you didn’t take a lot of smoke breaks or water breaks. The works are beautiful and made my property look so much fresher and clean, it looks more lived in.
May the God that I serve add many blessings to each of your lives. I loved your comradery. You worked like little ants, until you pleased the Queen(me) *please smile.
I just can’t say enough about you and your group. Oh, you left the property so clean.
I truly needed your services! The best part it was Free!
I pray that everyone you serve appreciate you as much as I do.
Love in the name of Christ Jesus,
PIP DAYS will begin again in the Spring April/May 2019
