Sunday’s Celebrations, April 22nd
On Sunday, we celebrated the Baptism of Sophie Grace Tollefsbol. In addition to that, we honored Pat Daniel and her many years of service as Director of Communication. Three paintings done by artist Pat Smith will now be hung in the Pat Daniel Small Conference Room.
This week we commemorate the lives of these two individuals, as well as celebrate their lives. Our prayers and support go out to the families.
Property Improvement Program
This spring there are teams of volunteers from FUMCD, First Christian Church, Trinity Methodist Church, Grace Place Church, Holy Spirit Catholic Church, and a team consisting of employees from the City of Duncanville. There are a total of 103 volunteers participating in PIP DAYS this spring and 49 of that total are from FUMCD! Five Duncanville homeowners will receive help.
On those mornings, we all will meet in the parking lot at 8:00, take a few pictures, have prayer and disperse at 8:30 to go to the properties.
PIP DAYS gives renewed hope to the property owners, pride in their homes and property, and the knowledge that someone cares.
We’re All Invited
One of the goals of the Stewardship Committee is to make Stewardship a year round concept by examining how our commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord affects different aspects of our life. We want to consider how Christian commitment relates to our time, our talent and our treasures.
The Stewardship Committee is continuing to host the pot luck lunches we started last year. Mark your calendar for the 5th Sundays – April 29, July 29 and September 30 for all church potluck lunches. (my favorite potluck dishes are banana pudding and deviled eggs)
Be sure to come to the Pot Luck on April 29 for the unveiling of our 2018 Stewardship campaign! Stewardship: Do Healthy; Be Healthy; Stay Strong.
This theme, we believe, will support the Healthy Church Initiative prescriptions that we as a church have committed to.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Fifth Sunday Food Drive – April 29
Remember to bring your non-perishable food items to the Lobby! Donations will go to Duncanville Outreach Ministries.
May’s Mission Moment
May’s Mission Moment provides an opportunity to continue the amazing works of First United Methodist’s Children’s Ministry. The children will be participating in “The Great Kid Mission”
Last year’s Kid Mission provided bassinet cards for the Presbyterian Dallas NICU, dog treats and toys for the Tri-City Animal Shelter, prayer reminder cards for the homebound, fleece pillows for Duncanville Police and Fire Departments, head wraps for cancer patients at Parkland, tray cards for Meals on Wheels, Bags of Grace for neighbors needing food, and planting items in our Community Garden.
WOW- these kids are doing great things, and your support will continue this beautiful ministry. Thank you for helping our children grow in faith!
