Good Folks, it is Friday, September 15, 2017. Today at 10:00am, Jaynes Memorial Chapel in Duncanville, we will be celebrating Betty Farley’s Celebration of Life Service. Betty is Beverly Amundson’s mom. We pray God’s comfort and strength for the family and friends.
The news has been racked with sadness on the destruction of property and life because of the recent hurricanes. However, there has been news of bravery from people assisting people to safety, even risking their own lives. We must applaud our first and second responders who are trained for times as these. May the calm winds remind us that even after turbulent storms, the waters will recede, communities will rebuild and a new normalcy will ensue. We can be greatly affected by these storms, but the One who can calm the storms is the One who defines us and gives us calmness to appreciate the gentle breezes when they happen.
By now, many have received a note from Russell Beard, chairperson of the Consecration Sunday Team. Please make plans to be present in worship (10/01) and afterwards for the meal in Aldersgate. This will be a time to fellowship and celebrate what God is doing in our community of faith. Theme: Fearless Generosity (Ephesians 3:20-21).
A gentle reminder, take your congregational HCI survey. The link is at the bottom of this epistle. Your thoughts, ideas, history and what would be helpful for an overall picture of where this church has been and where it sees itself going forward. Your comments are needed and appreciated.
The sermon series on “Fearless” continues this Sunday. Scripture text will be from Matthew 14:28-29. Send me a thought or two how you would find some elements of “Fearless” from this text and context.
May the Lord bless you and keep you;
May the Lord make His face to shine upon you, and be gracious unto you;
May the Lord lift up his countenance upon you,
and give you peace. Amen. (Numbers 6: 44-26)
You are loved Good Folks.
Blessings from Duncanville,
Pastor Frank (email@example.com)
