Good Folks, it is Friday, May 31, 2019. The last of day of May. Where have the last five months gone?
The North Texas Conference of The United Methodist Church will have its annual gathering of representatives from each local church, clergy and lay. This year the conference will be held at Christ UMC, Plano. Almost 800+ delegates will converge on that campus for two days of hearing reports, electing delegates to General and Jurisdictional Conference in 2020, and the reading of appointments for this next church year. Yet, with that happening, there are friendships to renew and memories to be made. Clergy that retire will have interviews shown on the multimedia screens and the Bishop will give his state of the church. An annual budget will be approved for the annual conference, of which a good portion is shared with each local church in the form of apportionments. Charla Edwards and Beverly Amundson will represent our local church during annual conference. They are to be commended for their willingness to give of their time and efforts.
This coming summer, we will be having our annual Vacation Bible School every Friday starting July 12, 2019 until August 2, 2019. Volunteers and group leaders are always welcome. Contact Bridget@fumcd.com.
The youth will be traveling to Commerce, Texas for their annual pilgrimage for UM Army. Mission work with our youth is exciting, challenging, yet rewarding. Thank you church for making donations to help cover the costs. For our youth and adults sponsors, this makes a difference in their lives.
Oftentimes we forget to say thanks to the church for being the church: the hand and feet of Christ, the voice of God in the form of a word of welcome and grace. Thank you for your faithfulness through your prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness.
You have been blessed to be a blessing: Inspired to be inspirational.
Blessings from Duncanville,
Pastor Frank (firstname.lastname@example.org)
