Good Folks, it is Friday, March 31, 2017, the last day of March. The writer of Ecclesiastes tells us in chapter three, beginning with verse one, that “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: …” then begins the litany of many events in one’s life.
Yesterday morning, an announcement went to the email group that distributes this blog of an appointment announcement for our associate pastor, Reverend Alex Williams. As I reflect on this post, I am taken back to the first moments of his and Emma’s arrival to Duncanville, the unloading of the U-Haul truck he drove from Chicago, the freshness of the moment and welcoming of a colleague and stranger. Wow. Lots of stuff here.
One of his first Sunday’s with the church, with Emma beside Alex.
There is a time and season for every matter under heaven. It has not been a good season, it has been a great season for me and the church.
Our prayers will be for Alex, Emma and Henry (yes, Stanley as well) as he is soon to begin a new season as Senior Pastor of Cross Way United Methodist Church in the Frisco area, effective July 1. Until then, there are preparations to be made.
I am happy for Alex. He is a blessing and will be in his ministry. This Sunday, Alex will be preaching in both services from John 15:9-17.
The following Sunday begins Holy Week and all the special services, finishing on the Day of Resurrection-Easter (April 16).
Blessings from Duncanville, Pastor Frank
