Good Folks, it is the first Friday in February, and only nine more days to Valentine’s Day (hint, hint, hint) and four more days to Fat Tuesday Fish Fry & Covered Dish in Alexander Gym. Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org. Jazz music by our own Betsy Stelzer and company. Fun & Fellowship, plus fried fish on the menu.
Several years ago I was driving from Brazoria, Texas to Galveston, going down one of the farm to market roads. I came across a sign that I thought read: “Needed, Clean Dirt.” I asked and have continued to ask, when is dirt ever “clean?”
Wednesday at 7:00p.m., in our sanctuary, we will have a service of ashes. Plus, we will continue to have drive-through ashes on Main Street and in front of Jaynes Memorial Chapel on Cockrell Hill Road, from 6:00a.m. to 8:00a.m.
Lent begins Wednesday. Alex and I will be preaching from the Gospel of Luke until Easter. Your first reading assignment is, Read Chapters 1-3 by Sunday, February 14.
I pray God’s blessings for you and yours. I am convicted by the sign I read and ask myself the question, am I clean dirt?
Remember from dust you came and from dust you shall return.
See you Sunday and afterwards.
