God thunders wondrously with his voice; he does great things that we cannot comprehend. For to the snow he says, ‘Fall on the earth’; and the shower of rain, his heavy shower of rain, serves as a sign on everyone’s hand, so that all whom he has made may know it. Job 37:5-7 (NRSV)
Good Folks, It is Friday, February 27, 2015, and it is snowing in Duncanville, Texas…and other parts of our great country. This week has been wrought with school closures, winter storm advisories, now this. Coming from Corpus Christi, any time the temperature would go below 70 degrees, it is winter. And life is good.
God, in his infinite grace, gives us the snow to enjoy and make snowmen/women, see our footprints where we have trod and to realize that God created a marvelous heaven and earth. The scripture text from Job is somewhat random…there are few texts that mention snow without the reference, “whiter than snow” or something to that affect.
The snow will melt. The rains will come and the winds will blow, and beat upon every house, home, building and soul. How we build is so important. The foundation is crucial to the stability of what is built upon it.
Good Folks, enjoy the moment. August will be here before you know it and 100+ degree weather, and we will clamor for the coolness of nights. Everyone leave a footprint somewhere. Mine is a size 10 Wide.
Sunday brings Reid last Sunday with us as Director of Music Ministries. He will be missed. Sunday brings worship services at 9 or 11:11AM, for you to choose from, with classes to learn God, Christ and the Holy Spirit, and being what a disciple of Christ means. Sunday brings the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Be safe. Pray always. Forgive often as you have been forgiven. Clothe yourselves with…Colossians 3: 12-14. Go ahead and look it up and read it out loud.
Shalom, Pastor Frank
PS: Project 3.7 Open House is scheduled for Sunday-Monday, March 8-9. Times will be forthcoming. You should be so proud of what God has done, is doing and will do because of “3.7.”
