Good Folks, it is Friday, April 20, 2018. This Sunday I will continue the sermon series — Arise: Claiming the Resurrection as Your Own. Last Sunday we celebrated #WearYourCancerColors. It was a challenging day for many as it was for me. We remember family and friends who have died because of cancer. We can celebrate with many who are “Cancer Survivors.” And we have those who are presently going through their particular treatment for their particular type of cancer: 1 of 186 different types.
On Sunday, as we claim the resurrection, what can we name that has weighed us down? Maybe an addiction of a sort? More than a “thorn in our side?” You are invited to come hear what scripture says to this challenge that so many in the church face every day. So many in our workplace, community and the most unlikely folk that we know are often weighed with an addiction. Can we name it? Can we claim our response to the resurrection?
When was the last time you invited someone to church? To your Sunday school class? Small group study? Or any function inside the walls of the church, or a social event? I will admit, it can be challenging, if not just plain frightening. When was the last time you were invited?
We often invite others to something we are interested in and passionate about. I would like to be the first to invite you to landscape with me some parts of the church grounds in the near future. If you are interested, let me know soon.
We have PIP Days next Friday & Saturday for two weeks in a row. Hint, Hint, Hint.
I thank God for you and your faithfulness to the church. What will be the next invitation you receive or make?
I saw this poster in the entryway of a rehabilitation hospital that I will want to incorporate here, someway/somehow.
God’s grace be with you always. You are invited to invite.
Blessings from Duncanville,
