Our new Sunday meeting time is 4:30-5:45. Children will begin with choir from 4:30-5:10 and will then have Kids for Christ (Bible study, games etc.) from 5:10- 5:45. This new schedule will allow children to be home for Sunday dinner with their families! We will continue meeting in Wesley as we did in the fall. For more information about Children’s Choir contact Betsy Lippens and for more information about Kid’s for Christ contact Bridget Maloney
Support our children as they participate in the first annual Great KidMission February 10-12. Children will be making head wraps for cancer patients, Bags of Grace for homeless brothers and sisters, tray cards for Meals on Wheels, bassinet cards for NICU patients, fleece blankets for local fire and police departments and more! YOU can join the children in mission by purchasing shares of stock January 15, 22 or 29. Stock shares are $20 each. In addition to an email including exclusive photos and updates from the children DURING the Great KidMission, each share comes with a different level of thank you gift. Visit the table in the narthex before or after each worship service for more information and to purchase shares. Thank you for supporting the children of FUMCD as they seek to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community!
First Annual Great KidMission
The Great KidMission is a fun and creative way the children of FUMC, their friends and family can be the hands and feet of Jesus in Duncanville and the surrounding area. It’s a mission “trip” without the trip! Children will begin by participating in the February Children in Action event on Friday, February 10 from 6-10 p.m.
During CIA they will have dinner, play games and complete 2 service projects. On Saturday, February 11, children will return to FUMC at 9 a.m. for a day of fun and service. The day will include snacks, lunch and dinner. Children in 2nd grade and younger will head home at 6 p.m. Children in 3rd -6th grade will spend the night in 414 where they will complete one more project and watch a movie. All participants will have breakfast and attend worship together at 9 a.m. in Aldersgate.
Reservations for the Great KidMission are due by Sunday, February 5. A deposit of $15 per child will be required to hold a spot for the three days. We are hosting a Stock Sale fundraiser (see article in this issue) to help fund the rest of the weekend.
Children (Kindergarten-6th grade) $15 deposit + $45 balance for the entire weekend. *Some scholarships will be available through the Children’s Ministry office. Please contact Bridget Maloney for information.
Parents attending (Saturday only) $10 for meals and snacks
Families can earn money toward their child’s registration by selling stock in the stock sale. Additionally, the posted prices may decrease depending on the success of our stock sale! Please contact Bridget to sign up to sell stock after the 9 a.m. or 11 a.m. service of worship on January 15, 22 or 29.
Sunday, February 26 is Children’s Sabbath 2017. This year children are invited to take part in leading worship! Children may partner with a parent to serve as a greeter, they may write and or read a short prayer, read scripture, design slides etc. The deadline to sign up to participate is Thursday, February 16. Each child who chooses to participate will receive information about the day and a script to rehearse at home. We will have one all group practice on Saturday, February 25 at 10 a.m. Please contact Bridget Maloney to talk about how your child may use his or her gifts to lead our congregation in worship.
