Well friends, we’ve come to the end of our 2015 Stewardship Campaign. This coming Sunday is commitment Sunday and we will all have the responsibility of pledging our support to God’s mission and ministry here in Duncanville.
I have to first say that I am honored to be a part of such a faithful and generous congregation. I am inspired by all of you each week, and God finds new ways to teach me about grace through all of you, and for that I am very thankful.
We recorded our stewardship videos over the last few weeks and during one filming session I heard Jerry Bair say, “I support the church because it changed my life.” That really hit me because that’s my story too, as I’m sure it is for most of you. For all the bad press that the Church gets at times, it is truly a place where God transforms lives.
I hope you will all pledge to support the mission and ministry of God with us on Sunday, but I know that many of you are skeptical about the idea of a pledge card. I understand where you’re coming from, it is not the most comfortable topic for us to discuss.
But I want you to know one thing before Sunday.
The God of the universe is in the business of changing lives and using those lives to shape the world. If you haven’t noticed, there is a fire catching within our church. The Holy Spirit has been awakened in a mighty way, and if you don’t believe me then come watch our children sing this Sunday morning at the Traditional service and watch how the Holy Spirit comes alive within our congregation in that moment.
Our God is alive and I can’t express how excited I am about 2016. We have big hopes and big dreams for next year, because we worship a magnificent and eternal God, but we need you! I hope that you will set big goals for yourself next year, because I can tell you from experience that the Holy Spirit will come in and do something transformational in your life if you do.
Thank you for being in this with me.
I will be in this with you.
Have a wonderful week my friends.
