Today is my mother’s 60th birthday. On Saturday we threw her a big party to celebrate her big day. It was really wonderful, and the food was particularly fabulous. One of our members, Laura Jaynes, made some of her famous white chocolate puff popcorn, which is absolutely out of this world delicious. Everyone at the party was dying for the recipe.
Birthdays are fun, especially when they are big milestones like 60 amazing years. The thing that I noticed after the party had concluded, was that I don’t celebrate as much as I should. Not to say that I’m melancholy, I just have never been the kind of person to throw parties very often.
I frequently find myself distracted by our fast-paced world, and all of the things in my personal life. Sometimes, like this weekend, I realize how important it is to celebrate. I have never really been big on birthdays, but I’m so glad that this party was suggested by my family members. Instead of having another family birthday pass with ordinary occassion, I will remember this event for the rest of my life.
It is extraordinary how simple it sounds, but in our world of chaos, stress and negativity, a good party can go a long way. I hope you celebrate momentous occassions with your friends and family. If you have a milestone of some kind upcoming in your life, maybe this blog is God’s way of nudging you to mark the occassion with a party of friends and family.
Celebration is just good for the soul.
Happy Tuesday my friends,
