I wrote this last night on my phone after a long, but awesome Monday at UMARMY! I am so happy that I get to go with our youth on their mission trips. I love mission trips. Even after only one day I can say that they are definitely exhausting, but God moves in amazing ways during these weeks.
There are few things more conducive to the movement of the Spirit, than exhaustion. After working all week in the Texas summer sun, walls come down and everyone opens up to each other and to God. If you’ve never experienced this, I really encourage you to come on our PIP DAYS in the Fall or even come with the youth next summer! God truly moves in a unique way at mission trips.
To watch these high school students take the lead and serve people they don’t know is so inspiring. They are living as the hands and feet of Christ and I am humbled by their selfless service.
We are serving in the town of Rowlett, which is uncharacteristically close to home, but we’re doing tornado relief. It is harrowing to hear the stories from these homeowners who lived through the Christmas tornadoes. To hear someone talk about the sound they heard as the tornado skipped over their house and leveled houses across the street is heartbreaking. There are still so many needs in this community, but God is powerfully present in the midst of the recovery and resurrection happening in Rowlett.
I am so proud of our youth and my heart is filled with the Holy Spirit as I work alongside these youth and the people of Rowlett.
Have a wonderful week my friends
